About the founder

Built by someone who's done the inspections.

I'm Erik Elfstrom. I started as a maintenance tech filling out these reports by hand, and over 20 years worked up to running multi-million-dollar facilities. I've been through OSHA and ISO audits, and I know what an inspector asks for when something goes wrong. F.O.R.C. is the tool I wanted back then: scan the sticker, do the check, and the record is there, timestamped and in order. Based in Oregon. Questions come straight to me at forc@theorc.dev.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is FORC Inspection really free?
Yes. The Free plan covers one site and 3 pieces of equipment, with print-your-own QR stickers, inspection records and CSV/PDF exports. It has no trial clock. If we ever change the free plan, we give at least 30 days' notice by email. Paid plans are Single site ($29/month, up to 25 pieces of equipment) and Unlimited ($59/month).
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The Free plan needs no card. You only enter a card, through Stripe Checkout, if you choose to upgrade.
Do my operators need accounts or an app?
No accounts or app needed. Owners can optionally require approved operators with personal PINs. Unlimited operators on every plan. Operators scan the QR sticker with their phone camera, the checklist opens in the phone's web browser, and they enter their name (or their PIN, if the site requires approved operators) and submit. Managers sign in with a one-time code sent to their email.
Does this meet OSHA forklift inspection requirements?
OSHA 1910.178(q)(7) requires forklifts to be examined before being placed in service. FORC Inspection helps you run that check and keep a named, timestamped record of it, including any problems found. OSHA has said the rule itself doesn't require written records, and a paper checklist works too. FORC Inspection is a record-keeping tool; it doesn't certify compliance, and you decide which records you need to keep.
What happens to my records if I cancel?
You can cancel anytime from the Plan page (Manage billing, through Stripe). Cancelling stops future renewals, paid access continues through the current billing period, and then the site moves to the Free plan. Your records aren't deleted when you cancel, and you can still view and export them. The retention schedule is in section 6 of the Terms, and we email the account owner before any deletion.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Your records are yours. Download your inspection history as CSV or PDF anytime, on every plan, including Free.
What equipment does it work with?
Anything you inspect on a schedule: forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, dock levelers, order pickers, reach trucks, boom lifts, fire extinguishers and eyewash stations, and other equipment with a general checklist. New sites start with 4 default checklists (Forklift (OSHA 1910.178), General equipment, Fire extinguisher (monthly), Eyewash station (weekly)) and you can add your own. FORC Inspection handles inspections only; it isn't a work-order or maintenance-management (CMMS) system.
Where do the QR stickers come from?
You print your own for free from the Stickers page on any plan. Mailed weatherproof sticker packs are an optional add-on: they ship by USPS within 7 to 10 business days, to U.S. addresses only, and the price is shown before you pay.
